It was our pleasure to once again welcome a Catch The Vision, Int. team, with Pastor Cary Hilliard of First Baptist Church, Longview, Texas, along with 10 members of his church, and the co-founder of CTV, Dr. David Gillespie, MD, who came to build a church in Nuevo Tampira on the Amazon River and to do VBS and evangelism.
Pastor Cary brought the Ass’t Worship Minister, Jacob Ramos and his wife, Meredith, who led the worship service each morning and again in the evening during devotions. His gift of music is incredible and Meredith writes music and sings with Jacob and we were blessed to have them aboard! Looking forward to the release of his first CD!
Dr. David Gillespie, MD, OB/GYN, and co-founder of Catch The Vision, was on hand to see patients and give general direction from his many years of experience of providing health care to the people of the rivers in Perú. David first came to the Amazonia in 1997, where we met him for the first time and he has been back nearly every year since then. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church, Orangeburg, SC and a much-loved, good friend!
Dr. Jay Chastain, III, a Cardio-Vascular Surgeon, on this his second trip, was also aboard to see patients and it was my first time to work with him and found him to be just a delightful new friend. We have met some of the nicest and best doctors the USA has to offer in the past 17 years of service here, for which we are thankful to God for the experiences and the memories!
The men worked hard on the church each day and were blessed to have the pastor from nearby San Carlos to come and bring several of his church members over to help build the church. He has been mentoring the pastor of Nvo. Tapira and it was a joy for him to see the church going up, as it was due to his influence that AMM chose this village for the church site.
In the afternoons, the ladies did VBS and some of the guys helped
So much love was shown to these kids!
133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
On the last day, we had a dedication service for the church with the team and both villages participating and it was a wonderful time. The construction foreman for AMM, David Gonzales, is also a preacher and he has framed in nearly every church we’ve built before the team arrives so that the roof is on and the team is protected from the sun or rain as they work to finish the building. He also participated in the dedication ceremonies. David is also supported by AMM and is well known by the people, as he travels the rivers encouraging the pastors and congregations during the time that we have no teams on the rivers.
Our true thanks to Free Chapel/Kingdom Connection, Gainesville, GA, for our monthly support and to Catch The Vision for sending this team, and special thanks to Longview Baptist Church, Longview, TX and for Pastor Hilliard who made it all happen by bringing his members to do the work and they paid the price to be here.
May Himself reward you as only He knows how and may you and yours receive that 100-fold-return in money and what money cannot possibly buy!
Until we meet again, thank you all for everything you did to be AMM this week! Himself sees it all!
